Celestino Padeste

Dr. Celestino Padeste is a senior scientist in the Lab. of Nanoscale Biology at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen PSI / Switzerland. He received a PhD degree from the University of Zürich in the field of inorganic solid state / gas phase reactions and worked as a Post-Doc at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia on surface analysis of catalyst systems. In 1993, he was employed for a biosensor project in the Micro- and Nanotechnology Laboratory at PSI. Later he moved to biofunctional surfaces and polymer nanotechnology. His research is focused on the design of functional surfaces by combination of micro- and nanostructuring methods with chemical surface modification, polymer grafting and protein immobilization.
