Title: Fabrication of Functional Nanostructured Polymer and Hybrid Components

Abstract: We report on the manufactruring of nanostructured polymer components using replication techniques. Functional surfaces with tailored micro nanostructures have been produced for various applications (wettability, photovoltaics, biology). Micro-nanostructured masters have been produced by combining self assembly processes (polymer and nanosphere lithography) with standard microfabrication/tooling processes. Various materials (silicon based, steels) have been processed to fabricated tools compatible with replication techniques. A major advantage of this approach is its flexibility and the ability to create surface nanostructures on 3D microshapes. Three replication techniques (UV-nanoimprint, hot embossng and injection molding) have been tested and compared in terms of accuracy, throughput and cost. The optimization of the design and fabrication of nanostructured surfaces lead to functional surfaces for various applications.
